About Us

DSL have designed and manufactured robust and reliable electronic platform since 1985, under its original guise of ‘Hexatron Ltd’, an evolution of management reforming under ‘Datasound Laboratories Ltd’ (DSL) in 1991.

Back then, designs were predominantly either PC based (x86) where a traditional computer was miniaturised or were based on early microcontrollers, typically PICs, for more basic functionality designs. DSL’s early team designed in-house and undertook all testing and assembly, but built the PCB assembly itself using a team of local partners.

Whilst the tools and technology have evolved beyond our wildest dreams since then, where a microcontroller today can easily handle applications previously only within the reach of a true ‘PC based’ platform, the methodologies to achieve robust and reliable platforms never changes.

DSL has been a trusted partner over the years to some of the biggest names in both electronics directly and big brands utilising the power of electronics, often for the first time, to drive their company forward in their particular niche.

What was critical to those early clients and is just as critical today is that partnership, that long term support such that they know, even a decade after a project’s completion, we’re always here to help should they need it.

This, alongside our focus on long term reliability is what has made DSL the long term success that it is.
